Grace Anne Stewart and fossils

Grace Ann Stewart was a pioneering Ohio State scientist. She was the first Canadian woman to earn a Ph.D. in the geosciences. When she arrived at Ohio State in 1923, she became one of the first women on the Geology faculty of any North American university. During her 30-year career at OSU, she distinguished herself as one of the leading authorities on Silurian and Devonian paleontology and stratigraphy in North America. Loren Babcock will discuss the remarkable career and scientific legacy of Grace Anne Stewart at Arts & Sciences Day, Saturday, February 18, 2023, 12:30-1:15 and 2:30-3:15, in the Orton Geological Museum.
