Museum Tours, Visits to Schools, and STEM Enrichment

Groups of 10 to 20 people can arrange for a free guided tour of the Museum Gallery. Displays emphasize the geology of Ohio and adjacent areas, rocks and minerals, and meteorites. Groups of any age and background are welcome.

Guided tours of the Museum are to be arranged through Dale Gnidovec, the Collections Manager and Curator, or Prof. Loren Babcock, the Director. Call (614-292-6896) or e-mail (ortonmuseum@osu.edu) to arrange a tour of the Orton Geological Museum. In-person guided tours, as well as virtual guided tours, are possible.

Schools or other groups can arrange for an in-person visit , or a virtual visit, by one of our experts, depending on availability. Topics include fossils (for example, dinosaurs, Ice Age fossils, fossils of central Ohio, trilobites), minerals (for example, minerals used industrially and in everyday applications), gemstones, and meteorites. Talks align with Ohio's State Science Standards. Please contact us about the possibilities.

The Orton Museum has collaborative STEM (STEAM and STEAMM) programs with schools and school districts in central Ohio. If your school or school district is interested in developing an Earth Science-themed enrichment program with the The Ohio State University's Orton Museum, please contact us.
